Tiger Leaked.

According to Engadget someone has leaked Mac osX Tiger.
Personally I am not a mac user [though I wish so much that I was] but this has to be a huge problem for apple.

The Engadget post can be seen here.

Well I will be shelling out the cash for the (education discounted) retail copy of Tiger.

If leaks like this become a huge problem, I wonder if Apple will turn to an authentication system like Windows uses... I hope not, but I feel like it's inevitable.

When i get my apple computer i will be paying for it (same education discount) if it does not come with it.

on a similar note, i think i might have to just pick up a mac mini just to get into the apple world, since i cannot afford a powerbook yet, this way i plan to buy software for it that i will just have when i finally get my powermac/book.

Sounds like a good plan. Anything you buy after the official launch of Tiger will have Tiger on it. I'm also pretty sure that if you buy a Mac a few days before a new OS is announced, they will upgrade you to the new OS for free.

The leaking of Tiger is not harmful to Apple.

The people who have Apple computers will want an official copy. They've already spent the bling for the computer and support, they're not going to screw a $300 support program just to play on the new $100 OS.

I don't think it leaking has any effect, software sales wise, and I'm sure that if Microsoft or anyone else was really interested in playing hardball pirate style, they'd just sign up for the developers program and get access to everything.

But, looking at that torrent for another 2 days will drive me crazy.

good point daniel.

it is funny how this compares to mircosoft - their users would not be willing to pay for XP like apple users would pay for Tiger.
